Jalur Sutera, Jalur Bersejarah yang Menghubungkan Dunia

Jalur Sutera adalah jalur perdagangan penting pada masa lampau yang menghubungkan benua Asia, Afrika, dan Eropa. Nama Jalur Sutera sendiri berasal dari penamaan seorang akademisi dari Jerman yang bernama Ferdinand von Richthofen pada tahun 1877. Nama Jalur Sutera digunakan karena pada mulanya jalur ini merupakan jalur perdagangan sutera yang dimulai pada masa Dinasti Han (Sekitar abad ke-3 Sebelum Masehi). Sejarawan mengatakan bahwa jalur sutera dimulai pada abad ke-2 Sebelum Masehi. Namun, sutera, perunggu, dan barang-barang lainnya telah dibawa melintasi Asia Tengah sejak abad ke-11 Sebelum Masehi. Jalur Sutera bertahan hingga kemudian mulai ditinggalkan setelah adanya jalur laut untuk perdagangan pada abad ke-15.

Sejarah Awal

Jalur Sutera berkembang dengan adanya keinginan membuka jalur perdagangan. Namun, jalur perdagangan tersebut terganggu karena adanya serangan dan penjarahan dari kelompok nomaden Xiongnu. Oleh karena itu, Kaisar Wudi kemudian mengirimkan delegasi yang bernama Zhang Qian ke Asia Tengah untuk mencari sekutu melawan Xiongnu. Namun, Zhang Qian gagal setelah kemudian ditawan oleh kelompok Xiongnu selama 10 tahun. Zhang Qian kemudian melarikan diri dan berhasil kembali ke Cina. Meskipun misinya gagal, ia memberikan laporan bahwa adanya keinginan dagang dari Barat karena mereka menginginkan produk-produk, terutamanya sutera dari Cina yang tidak ada di negara mereka. Laporan inilah yang kemudian mengembangkan Jalur Sutera di kemudian hari.

Pada Pengembangan Jalur Sutera yang terhambat oleh ancaman serangan dan pencurian pada rombongan dagang . Oleh karena itu, Cina kemudian menggunakan kuda-kuda dari Barat yang mereka sebut lebih kuat untuk melawan kelompok-kelompok nomaden dan menjaga rombongan dagang mereka. Kelompok nomaden Xiongnu kemudian berhasil dikalahkan dan Jalur Sutera secara resmi dibuka pada tahun 130 Sebelum Masehi. Hubungan perdagangan ini tidak hanya melibatkan antara Cina dan Asia Tengah, namun juga hingga Kekaisaran Parthia dan Kekaisaran Romawi.

Rute

Jalur Sutera terdiri dari beberapa jalur utama yang berbeda-beda. Jalur Sutera terbagi atas jalur utara dan jalur selatan. Jalur utara dimulai dari kota Chang’an (sekarang Xian) melewati provinsi Gansu yang terletak diantara Gurun Gobi dan Pegunungan Nan Shan. Jalur tersebut kemudian berlanjut ke wilayah yang sekarang merupakan Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan hingga kemudian sampai melewati Laut Kaspia dan tiba di Laut Hitam. Jalur utara ini membawa barang-barang seperti kurma, bubuk saffron, kacang pistachio dari Persia, kayu cendana dari wilayah India dan barang-barang berharga lainnya. Sementara itu, Cina membawa barang-barang seperti sutera dan porselen, serta barang-barang berharga lainnya ke Barat.

Jalur selatan dari Jalur Sutra bergerak dari Pegunungan Karakoram (wilayah yang sekarang berada diantara perbatasan Cina dan Pakistan) dan kemudian bergerak melintasi pegunungan menuju Pakistan. Setelah itu karavan akan bergerak ke arah barat melewati Afghanistan, Turkmenistan hingga kemudian tiba di Mesopotamia dan sampai di Laut Tengah. Barang-barang tersebut kemudian diangkut dengan kapal-kapal menuju Eropa. Selain jalur darat, terdapat juga jalur laut yang menghubungkan Cina, Asia Tenggara, dan Barat. Jalur tersebut dimulai dari Laut Cina Selatan, Selat Malaka, Samudra Hindia, Teluk Bengal, Laut Arab, Teluk Persia, dan Laut Merah. Jalur ini menghubungkan rempah-rempah yang berasal dari Nusantara.

Jalur Sutera memiliki beberapa tantangan dan kesulitan di dalamnya. Tantangan tersebut dapat berasal dari alam maupun dari manusia. Jalur Sutera yang melewati gurun dan pegunungan sangatlah berbahaya karena potensi bencana yang ada, seperti badai pasir, banjir, tanah longsor, atau badai salju di pegunungan. Jalur Sutera yang memiliki banyak tantangan menjadi alasan digunakannya unta untuk mengakomodir barang dagangan yang dibawa. Unta dapat menahan beban lebih besar dan membutuhkan air yang lebih sedikit dibandingkan hewan lainnya. Barang yang Diperdagangkan

Barang yang diperdagangkan pada Jalur Sutera merupakan barang-barang utama yang bernilai di masing-masing negara. Barang tersebut ditukarkan dengan barang lain yang tidak ada di negara mereka. Dari Timur ke Barat, barang-barang itu adalah sutera, teh, dye, batu-batu berharga, porselen, keramik dari Cina, rempah-rempah, perunggu, obat-obatan, parfum, gading, beras, kertas, dan bubuk mesiu. Sementara itu, barang-barang yang bergerak dari Barat ke Timur, seperti: kuda, pelana, anggur, hewan domestic, bulu dan kulit hewan, madu, buah-buahan, barang pecah belah, karpet, selimut wol, emas, perak, unta, batu-batu berharga dan persenjataan.

Selain barang-barang, Jalur Sutera juga menghubungkan kebudayaan yang berbeda dan memberikan dampak di bidang kebudayaan yang cukup besar. Jalur Sutera juga turut menyebarkan agama Buddha Hindu, Kristen dan Islam di wilayah Jalur Sutera. Selain itu, Jalur Sutera berhasil membangun pusat-pusat perdagangan baru sepanjang jalurnya yang kemudian berkembang menjadi kota-kota yang makmur.

OBOR, Jalur Sutera Modern

One Belt, One Road atau Belt Road Initiative adalah proyek pembangunan infrastruktur darat, laut, dan udara secara besar-besaran untuk mengembangkan perdagangan dan perekonomian di seluruh dunia. Jauh dari Jalur Sutera, proyek ini ingin menghubungkan seluruh dunia melalui perdagangan. Proyek OBOR diusulkan oleh Presiden Cina Xi Jinping pada tahun 2013.
